I finally ditched printed punch lists after a $2,300 mistake in Austin
I used to run punch lists on paper and clipboards because that's how my old boss did it. After a 60 unit apartment job in Austin, we lost a whole week and about $2,300 in rework because two supers had different versions of the same list. I switched to a shared punch list app on our phones and had every sub scanning QR codes on each door. The turnaround on closeout went from 9 days down to 2, and we stopped paying guys to walk around with no idea what was left. The real trick was making subs close their own items in the app with a photo, no back and forth with me. My old super thinks it's overkill, but I'm never going back to clipboard walkthroughs. What's the one thing that finally got your punch list under control?
