Had to pick between Procore and Buildertrend for my small crew back in 2019
I run a 4-man HVAC company now and back when I went independent I had to choose between Procore and Buildertrend. Procore felt like overkill for my tiny operation, all those features for enterprise jobs that I would never touch. Buildertrend was cheaper but their mobile app crashed on me THREE times during a demo. I ended up going with Buildertrend because the price was right and I figured I could deal with some bugs. First 6 months were rough, lost a whole day of scheduling data once and had to manually re-enter it from paper notes. Now after 5 years theyve fixed most of the glitches and honestly it works fine for what I need. Has anyone else picked a tool that seemed like a compromise at first but ended up working out?

Man I really felt that part about losing a whole day of scheduling data, that's brutal. It's tough when you pick something that seems like a compromise and then it punishes you for trusting it. Glad to hear it eventually worked out though, sometimes sticking with a tool through the rough patches pays off.

Losing that whole day of data would've made me rage quit. Glad you stuck it out though.

Stick with it through the bugs and you end up knowing the workarounds better than the support team ever does. That kind of loyalty pays off when the updates finally roll out.
