Had a talk with our safety officer about drone photos, now I wonder if we overdo the software tracking

We were reviewing last month's jobs in Tacoma and he said something like "we spend 12 hours a week logging data that nobody ever looks at, but won't fly a drone over the site once a day to catch real issues." He's got a point. The foreman loves the daily reports from Procore, but the field crew barely uses them. Meanwhile a $400 drone could give us actual progress photos that anyone can understand. Is the whole industry just obsessed with filling out forms instead of seeing what's happening live? Has anyone else had their safety or field guys push back on this?

My buddy runs a kitchen remodel crew and they have the same thing. They track every hour of labor in a spreadsheet that one guy checks at the end of the month, but nobody bothers to take a quick photo of the walkthrough before drywall goes up. Sometimes the simple visual stuff just gets lost when everyone's obsessed with the paperwork.
