Never really thought about the water side of it, just the mud and the finish. He told me most guys don't know the mix water is only part of it, the curing water is the bigger number. Any of you ever had a plant guy drop a number on you that stuck?
Learned the same thing from a finisher in Bakersfield years back. He said people always forget the water you spray on top for the cure, that's where the real gallons go. A 10 yard slab soaking for a week adds up fast, way more than what goes in the drum. He told me he'd seen guys lose a pour because they cut the cure water short trying to save a buck. That number stuck with me every since.
