Unpopular opinion: The 30 second boot time test is useless for diagnosing real issues

I keep seeing people in forums brag about their PC booting in 30 seconds with an SSD. That tells me nothing about actual stability or performance under load. Last Tuesday I had a client whose machine booted in 22 seconds but crashed 3 times during a Zoom call. Meanwhile my 8 year old Dell takes 90 seconds to boot but runs stress tests for hours without a hitch. Stop treating boot speed like a health metric. Has anyone else had a fast booting system fail on basic tasks?

Boot times are basically meaningless... you can have a 20 second boot and still get random lockups because of bad drivers or thermal issues. That fast booting system the OP mentioned? Probably had some cheap SSD caching and no real error correction built in. Real stability comes from running the damn thing under load for hours, not from how fast it gets to the desktop.

Agreed, boot time is just a vanity number and tells you nothing about real world stability.
