Serious question, I used to just blow dust out of a PC with canned air until a $500 motherboard died on my bench last year.

Now I always use an ESD-safe vacuum and a small brush first, because that static buildup from the canned air was the culprit, so what's your go-to method for deep cleaning without the risk?

Yeah, a cheap anti-static brush saved me after reading @the_nina's post.

Ever wonder if those little anti-static mats are actually worth it? I got one as a gift and mostly used it as a fancy coaster, but after zapping a RAM module (oops), I finally started using it properly. It's just a cheap rubbery sheet, but now I always ground myself to it before touching anything inside the case.

So you fried a RAM stick before taking that mat seriously?
