PSA: Local shops ditching in-house servers for cloud stuff has me swamped with migration calls...

Three stores on my block moved their point-of-sale to the cloud this month... Now I'm getting daily calls to help move data and set up the new systems. It's a hassle because each one uses a different service with its own quirks. Anyone else seeing this shift away from old server rooms in their area? I'm trying to figure out if I should just focus on these migrations for a while.

Oh man, I just read an article about this trend. It said small business cloud adoption has jumped a lot in the last year, mostly for the reasons you said. The piece focused on how these different platforms don't talk to each other well, which creates a mess for exactly the work you're doing now.

Honestly, that article missed the scariest part. It's not just messy work, bad links between systems open up real security holes most small shops don't even see.
