Noticed a shift in how clients ask for help since COVID
Back around 2020, most of my calls in Austin were about setting up home offices or fixing slow internet. Now in 2024, I'm seeing a lot more requests about securing personal data and cleaning up old accounts. Seems like people finally got nervous after those big data breaches made the news last year. Has anyone else seen this change in their area?

My buddy runs a small shop in Dallas and told me last week he's getting all these calls from older folks wanting to delete their old Facebook accounts and cancel random subscriptions they forgot about. Said it's like everyone finally realized their digital footprint is a MESS after those ransomware attacks scared them straight.

My uncle in Phoenix did the exact same thing last month. He had like 12 different accounts on random sites from 2006 still active, one was a dating profile he forgot about. The ransomware thing really spooked him because he thought someone could use those old accounts to find his banking info or something. He spent three afternoons on the phone canceling subscriptions he never used, like a music service he signed up for in 2012. Now he's got a notebook where he writes down every login he creates.
