I spent $400 on a 'pro' thermal paste that was no better than the cheap stuff
Bought a tube of Kryonaut Extreme last year after reading all the hype, thinking it would help with some tricky laptop overhauls. After testing it side-by-side with the regular Arctic MX-4 I always used, the temperature difference was maybe 1 degree Celsius at most, which is basically nothing. Felt like a total waste, especially for the price. Has anyone else tested high-end pastes and found the same thing?

My buddy did the same test with liquid metal and got burned, literally.

I had the same letdown with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on my old gaming rig. I mean, I was hoping for a big drop in temps but it was maybe two degrees cooler than the basic paste I got with a cooler. For normal use or even a mild overclock, that extra cost just doesn't do anything. I went back to using Noctua NT-H1 for everything now. It spreads easy and the temps are always within a couple degrees of the crazy expensive stuff.

Wait, you spent four hundred dollars on thermal paste? That's not a tube, that's a down payment on a car. I almost dropped my phone reading that. For that kind of money it should come with a tiny elf to apply it for you. I get wanting the best stuff, but that price is just wild.
