Hot take: most people don't actually need a thermal imaging camera for basic diagnostics

Last month I was helping a guy at a computer repair shop in Austin. He spent $400 on a Flir camera to find a bad capacitor on a motherboard. I just used my finger to feel for heat, found it in 30 seconds. He got all defensive saying I was 'working like its 1995'. But the cap was right next to the CPU socket, plain as day. Has anyone else noticed customers or other techs buying fancy tools when a simple touch or a multimeter does the job faster?

Ha! Next he'll be using an electron microscope to find a loose screw.
