Appreciation post: I just fixed my 100th laptop with a bad hinge
It was a 2018 Dell Inspiron that came in yesterday, the left hinge was completely torn from the palm rest. I had to replace the entire top cover and the hinge assembly, took about an hour. It felt good to hit that round number because I remember how nervous I was on my first hinge repair. Has anyone else noticed a specific model that seems to fail way more often than others?

Man, that's a huge milestone. How bad was your first hinge repair? I remember mine was a total mess.

Oh man, "total mess" is putting it nicely, gracewebb. I think I used more duct tape than actual hinge.

My old 2015 MacBook Pro hinge gave out after three years of normal use. It feels like so many things are built to fail right after the warranty ends. That hundredth repair probably shows a pattern, not just bad luck.
