Rant: I refinanced my truck and the payoff quote came back $1,847 higher than my balance
So I finally got sick of my 11.9% auto rate and started shopping refis last Tuesday. My online balance said $14,220, I had the whole thing typed into the new lender's app, feeling good about myself. Then the old bank sends over the official 10 day payoff and it's $16,067. I just stared at it. Turns out there was accrued daily interest, a prepayment thing I somehow missed in the fine print, and some admin fee the branch guy in Mesa never mentioned when I bought the truck 18 months ago. The new lender had to redo the whole deal and I almost lost the rate lock over it. I get that loans have fees, cool, fine, but how is the number you show me online almost 2 grand off from the number you hand the other bank? Has anyone fought one of these payoff quotes and won, or do I just eat it?
