Finally stopped using spreadsheet macros for our syndication tracking

For 6 years I built every loan waterfall and payment schedule in Excel with macros, and every quarter end was a nightmare of broken links and manual fixes. Last month I switched to a plain cash flow model with hardcoded formulas and a separate input tab, and our monthly close went from 3 days to 1. Has anyone else ditched the fancy automation for simpler tools and seen faster results?
