Client told me my interest rate projections were too conservative. I adjusted. Now they're bitter.
Had a commercial real estate client in Austin back in February push me to lower my rate forecast for their construction loan. They said I was being too cautious and costing them money. I gave in and used a more aggressive number. Now rates jumped 75 basis points and they're scrambling to refi. Should I have stuck to my guns or is this just part of the gig? Anyone else have clients who think they know better?

Totally been there. Had a client in Dallas last year who swore they knew the market better than my 20 years of experience. I caved a little on my rental income projections and now they're stuck with a half empty building. Honestly, sometimes you just gotta trust your gut even when they're pressuring you hard.

Ha, @nancyw97 "half empty building" is basically my resume at this point. I once told a client "I have a bad feeling about this" and they still ignored me. Now I'm just the guy who says "told you so" but without the satisfaction.
