Why bringing a thermos of soup on a dive is a terrible idea

I was on a salvage job in some chilly water last week and thought I'd be smart by packing a thermos of chicken noodle soup for my surface interval. Picture this, I'm suited up, back on the line, and I figure I'll take a quick sip between dives. I unscrew the lid, bring it up to my mouth, and a small wave hits the boat just right. Hot soup goes everywhere, down my neck seal and into my drysuit liner. It was instant regret, like a warm, soggy punishment. My buddy saw the whole thing and almost fell overboard laughing. Now I smell like broth, and my suit needs a deep clean. Guess some lessons you only learn once, huh? Stick to granola bars, folks.

You said your suit needs a deep clean now, but is that really worse than the usual dive muck? Those liners get funky from sweat and salt water all the time. So you spilled some soup, it's just a different smell. A good hose down should handle it. This feels like a funny story more than a real problem.

Actually sounds better than the usual dive funk.
