Vent: my umbilical got pinched at 60 feet in the Gulf and I had to hand over the job
Was doing a routine inspection on a platform leg about 40 miles off Galveston last Tuesday when my umbilical snagged on a guide wire and kinked hard. Lost comms and my air flow dropped to almost nothing, so I had to switch to bailout and surface. The tender said the kink was bad enough that the line needed a full splice, which killed the whole day's dive plan. Any of you guys running a chafe guard on your main line for tight jacket work, or do you just eat the risk?
