Showerthought: I always thought the 30 minute rule for surface intervals was just a suggestion.
Heard a guy on the boat last week say his dive log showed way less fatigue when he stuck to a full half hour topside, no matter how short the first dive was. I used to cut it to 15 minutes if I felt fine. Tried his method on a two-tank hull clean in Tampa and honestly felt sharper on the second descent. Anyone else track this stuff and see a real difference?

That 30 minute rule is no joke. My own logbook shows the same thing, especially on back to back work dives.

Totally agree with you on that. I started tracking my surface intervals more carefully after a few rough days. Found that even a solid 35 minute break between dives made a huge difference in my focus and energy. My last project had us doing three short dives in a morning, and that extra few minutes of rest was key. It really shows up in the quality of the work you can do on the next dive.
