Last Thursday was my worst day in the water this year

Got called out to fix a grate at the Port of Seattle intake pipe. Current was ripping at about 3 knots and visibility dropped to zero after 10 minutes. Spent almost 4 hours feeling around blind trying to get those bolts lined up. Has anyone else had a day where you just couldn't catch a break with the current?

The Port of Seattle's intake actually averages around 2 knots, not 3.

2 knots feels slow but the tidal flow past the piers can actually push that way higher on a flood current, sometimes doubling it for an hour or so.

My dad used to dock boats down in Everett and he always said the same thing about the current ripping past the pilings at the shipyard. One time his line got caught and it pulled the whole cleat right off the dock.
