Heard a stat at a dive shop in Port Angeles that blew my mind
Guy there said 60% of commercial diving injuries happen on deck, not underwater, and it made me rethink all our safety talks. Do you focus more on in-water risks or deck procedures during your briefings?

I tripped over a loose hose during a deck drill last month and almost gave myself a concussion before even getting wet. That stat from Port Angeles really hits home because we spend so much time obsessing over currents and entanglement risks underwater. Do your deck safety briefings actually cover stuff like tripping hazards and equipment handling, or is it mostly about what happens below the surface?

Totally agree, I once took a dive light to the shin during a gear shuffle and still have the scar to prove it.

Had a buddy break a finger in a cooler door during a gear check. You cover that in briefings?
