Dry glove rings finally clicked for me after a bad dive in Puget Sound

I thought dry glove rings were just another expensive gimmick to upsell new divers. Then last January I did a 45 minute bottom job in 44 degree water near Edmonds and my hands went numb through my wet gloves. Swallowed my pride and dropped $120 on a ring system the next week. Now I can work a full 4 hour shift without losing feeling in my fingers. Anyone else fight against switching for too long and then wonder why they waited?

Same here, I spent two years pretending my wet gloves were fine while basically operating underwater with popsicle fingers. Finally caved after losing a tool because I couldn't feel it slip out of my hand. Now I just laugh at my old stubborn self every time I get out of the water with warm hands.

Wait, you lost a tool without even noticing? That's a whole new level of frozen finger misery. I can't imagine dropping something valuable and just watching it disappear because your hands are basically useless.

You say "miserable" like you didn't sign up for this hobby knowing winter happens every year. Lose a tool or two, it's just part of the deal.
