Dropped $600 on a new drysuit and the wrist seals blew on dive 2

Got a quote from a shop in Aberdeen for a repair but they wanted another 200 plus shipping, just patched it with some Aquaseal for now. Anyone else had bad luck with factory seals right out of the box?

Aquaseal is a rite of passage at this point, every diver's got a tube of that stuff somewhere. Two dives on a brand new suit is brutal though, that's not wear and tear, that's a factory defect. The Aberdeen quote sounds like they were charging for the name on the door more than the actual work. A proper vulcanized patch would've cost you half that if you'd waited, but honestly the Aquaseal fix will probably outlast the original seam if you did it right. Just keep an eye on it after a few cold dives, that's where those repairs really get tested.

Maybe a bit dramatic to call it a rite of passage, @derekjenkins, but yeah, the Aberdeen price tag does sound like they tacked on extra for the fancy logo, not the actual fix. I'd patch it with Aquaseal too and see if it holds, though I'm with you on checking it after some cold water, that's when you'll really know if it was worth the hassle.
