Chat with a marine biologist yesterday changed how I look at an old job
She told me the underwater noise from our tools can mess with fish behavior for hours after we leave. I got a couple of old survey reports from 2015 near San Diego Bay and it makes me want to double-check our gear next time. Anyone else ever think about how our work affects the wildlife around us?

Man, it is WILD how we don't even notice the ripple effects of stuff we do every day. I see it at the grocery store all the time - people blasting their car stereos in the parking lot, and you just KNOW the birds and squirrels are scrambling. And don't even get me started on those big delivery trucks idling for 20 minutes outside my house. It's like we're all just walking around making a mess of the little world around us without a second THOUGHT. Your marine biologist buddy is spot on - every little noise or action adds up, and we never stop to think about the critters that have to deal with it.
