Taping a cheap light to your helmet is a good way to get yourself killed down there. A three dollar flashlight has no real seal, so the first time you bump it or take it past 60 feet the water gets in and now you are in the dark with a dead light and no backup. The old timers got away with it because they dove shallow and slow and half of them lost gear or got hurt doing it, you just never heard about those guys. A real dive light is built to handle pressure and cold and being dropped, and it stays lit when your life depends on seeing your gauges and your line. Saving 200 bucks is not worth much when you are stuck in zero viz with a flooded Walmart special. Funny story to tell at the dock, but please do not actually do it.
