Vent: That $200 'weatherproof' camera I bought on Facebook Marketplace

I got a great deal on a trail camera from a guy in Tulsa. Looked brand new and he said it was barely used. Took it out to the woods last weekend and it died in the first rain. Now I'm out the cash and have to start over. Has anyone else been burned by used outdoor gear?

Man, that stinks. But I gotta say, "weatherproof" and "waterproof" are two totally different things in the outdoor gear world. Weatherproof usually just means it can handle some light mist or drizzle, not a full on rainstorm. Most trail cameras will say they're "weather resistant" or have an IP rating you gotta check. You probably need one that's actually rated IP66 or better if it's gonna sit out in the elements. Have you looked into getting a cheap waterproof housing for it or just sealing the seams with some silicone? Might be worth a shot.

Ugh, that sucks so bad @ben_ross51. Feels like false advertising honestly, hope you can salvage it.
