Unpopular opinion: reaction videos are the laziest form of commenting

Everyone keeps posting those clips where someone stares at a viral video and gasps for 3 minutes, then says 'that's crazy' and calls it analysis. I saw one with 12k upvotes in this community last Tuesday, and the actual comment being reacted to was more interesting than the reaction itself. The whole point of sharing comments is the words, the petty fights, the wild takes. A camera pointing at a face adds nothing, it just pads the runtime. Am I the only one who scrolls past those and reads the screenshot instead?

But isn't watching someone react to something part of why we share it in the first place? I get that the words matter, but seeing a real person's face tell you when they laughed or winced adds a layer you just can't get from a screenshot. For me, the good ones pick up on little details I missed and make the whole thing feel like we're watching it together, not just reading a transcript.

but honestly most of those "analysis" reactions are just people filming themselves watching for the first time, they're not actually catching details. the good ones you're talking about are like 1 in 50, the rest are just someone going "woah" at the same clip everyone already saw. screenshots cut right to the good part, no filler.
