TIL a comment thread about pineapple on pizza got over 40,000 replies...

I was scrolling through a random Facebook post on a cooking page last night and saw a thread about pineapple on pizza that somehow turned into a full blown debate about Italian immigration laws in the 1900s. The top comment had 12k likes and it was just someone saying "this is why we can't have nice things." I couldn't stop reading for an hour. Have you ever seen a comment section spiral into something completely unrelated like that?

Don't really get why people get so worked up about pizza toppings (like it's just food, not a Supreme Court ruling). The Scandinavian footwear thing sounds funny though, I'd probably scroll past that after two minutes. People treat these threads like they're defending their life's work when it's really just a bunch of strangers yelling about cheese and sauce.

That 40k post about pineapple pizza is legendary at this point. I saw one thread on Reddit where someone said "pineapple belongs on pizza like socks belong in a sandal" and it somehow turned into a six hour debate about Scandinavian footwear history.
