The 'worst' comment I found was actually from a verified account

I was scrolling through a post about a local news story in Austin where some restaurant got slammed for a bad review. Everyone in the replies was dogpiling on this one person's comment, calling it the dumbest take ever. But I dug into their profile and found they had a blue check and like 40k followers, and their comment was actually quoting a city ordinance about health code inspection timelines. It was sarcastic, yeah, but not wrong. The top comments with thousands of likes were all misreading it as a literal defense of roaches. I mean, maybe it's just me, but I think the wildest part of any comment section is when the crowd gets the joke wrong and then runs with it for 500 replies. Has anyone else found a 'bad' comment that turned out to be technically correct once you looked into the source? That one had a link to the actual PDF in their profile bio, which honestly felt like overkill but also kinda brilliant.

Disagree with the whole framing here. A blue check and a link in a bio don't make a comment good, they just make it look more official than it is. That person quoted a health code rule but left out the part where the restaurant actually fixed the issue weeks before the review. So the sarcasm wasn't just missed, it was built on a half truth. The crowd misread it, sure, but that doesn't mean the comment was technically correct. It was technically incomplete, which is way worse. Ive seen this exact thing happen a bunch, where someone with a shiny badge posts a gotcha that only works if you ignore the other 20 pages of context.
