That viral comment about "the real cost of free shipping" is scarily accurate

I saw a post last month where someone broke down how free shipping actually gets baked into product prices. They mentioned Home Depot specifically, saying their "free" $5 shipping on a 10-pound box of screws really means the item costs $2 more than in store. Then I checked my receipt from a delivery on February 12th and sure enough, the same item I could grab for $14.99 on the shelf was $17.49 online. Has anyone else caught this kind of price padding on their orders?

That 'feels kinda sneaky' line really hit me... I had the same thing happen with a grill cover last summer where the online price was somehow $8 more even with 'free' shipping.

Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought free shipping was just a nice perk, especially for big orders. But then I ordered a $35 set of paint brushes from Home Depot in January and noticed the online price was $39.99 while the in-store tag said $34.99. It really hit me how they’re just shifting the cost around so you don’t feel the hit at checkout. Tbh it feels kinda sneaky when you see it right there on the receipt. Ngl I check both prices now before I click buy.
