That 'verified buyer' badge comment on the $200 toaster thread got me questioning everything

I was scrolling a cooking subreddit last Tuesday and someone posted a review of a $200 toaster that had a verified buyer badge. Top comment was this long story about how the guy was actually testing toasters for a blog and bought 8 of them just to write reviews. He admitted he never used the toaster for more than one batch of bread before posting. That hit me weird because I trust those badges way more than random usernames. But then another commenter pointed out that Amazon and other sites hand those out to anyone who buys anything, even if they return it an hour later. So is the badge really proof of anything or just proof someone had the cash to click buy? I've left reviews after using something once and called it good, and now I wonder how many of those 'real' reviews are just snap judgments. Has anyone else stopped trusting verified badges after seeing something like this, or do you still let them decide what you buy?

Real talk, people put way too much stock in a little orange checkmark. It just means the person clicked a button, not that they have any clue what they're talking about. Half the reviews online are either people mad their package was late or folks who used the thing once and moved on with their life. Probably not worth overthrowing your whole shopping routine over. Just read a couple, use your gut, and move on.
