Shoutout to the guy in a Milwaukee bar who called my 'first comment' joke lazy, now I can't tell if the good comment sections are real or staged
So last month I'm at a bar downtown and some guy is scrolling his phone and laughing, and he turns the screen to me. It's a post with like 40k likes and the top comment is a one liner. I said wow that person is funny. He goes, no, that's a bot or a paid account, half these viral comments get planted to push the post. I said come on, no way. He showed me three different posts where the same account had the top comment, and the account was like 2 weeks old. So now here's my debate for you all. One side says the viral comment section is mostly real and a good line just gets upvoted. Other side says the best comments are planted by teams trying to game the post. I honestly don't know which one I believe now. Where do you all land on this? Have you ever gone back and checked if a top commenter was even a real account?
