Shoutout to the comment calling out that fancy 5-tool chef knife post

That thread about the $400 Japanese knife had one guy in the replies saying his $30 Victorinox from 2011 does the same job and honestly after slicing through a whole brisket last Sunday with my own cheap blade, I think the hype is just marketing, anyone else feel like the comments section is the only place getting real talk these days?

honestly the comments are the only reason I even scroll those threads anymore, half the time the poster is just flexing their gear while the real wisdom is buried in the replies from people who actually cook daily. that Victorinox guy gets it, once you realize a knife is just a piece of sharp metal the whole boutique scene starts looking like a hobby for people with more money than sense.
