Saw a comment war on a video about fixing a leaky faucet
One person wrote a whole essay about using plumber's putty, but another just said 'two wrenches and a 10mm socket, 5 minutes tops'. The second guy was right, I tried it and the leak stopped. Anyone else find the simplest comments are usually the winners?

That 10mm socket is the real hero of half my home repairs.

Actually, that plumber's putty essay guy probably saved someone from a bigger leak down the road. A quick wrench fix might stop the drip now, but if the seal underneath is bad, you'll just be doing it again next month. @ivan165 might love that 10mm socket, but it doesn't fix the root cause. Simple gets you going, but sometimes the longer answer is right for a lasting repair. Skipping steps for speed often means more work later.

My last sink leak was fixed with just a wrench and it's been fine for two years. Sometimes the problem really is just a loose connection, not a bad seal. Overcomplicating it can waste time and money on parts you don't need.
