Saw a comment on a kayak fishing video that made me ditch my whole tackle box

I was scrolling through a YouTube video about kayak fishing in Tampa Bay, and one guy commented that he only uses three lures for everything. No hard baits, no expensive jigs, just a spoon, a soft plastic jerk shad, and a topwater plug. I ignored it for months because I had like $200 worth of gear in my box. Then last summer I took his advice on a trip to Fort De Soto and caught more fish in one afternoon than I had in the previous three trips combined. Now I keep a tiny plano box with just those three lures and nothing else. Has anyone else had a random internet comment completely change their fishing setup?

Man, that comment about only using three lures hit me hard too. I was the guy with three full trays of crankbaits and spinnerbaits for years, and I'd get skunked half the time. Then I saw some random dude on a forum say he only fishes a 3/8oz gold spoon and a Zoom Super Fluke in pearl white, and I figured why not try it. Now I keep a single 3600 box with those two plus a black/chartreuse topwater popper, and I honestly catch more fish than when I had a whole army of lures. The spoon alone has replaced like six different hard baits for me, and the fluke works everywhere from grass flats to sandy bottoms. Sometimes less really is more, especially when you're dragging a kayak around.

Disagree with you there @riveradams, I get more bites swapping lures than sticking with just a few.
