Saw a comment on a hiking post where someone said they use duct tape for blisters and got roasted by 50 people

Went to Rocky Mountain National Park last week and the trailhead chatter was all about that one guy who claimed duct tape works better than moleskin - has anyone else seen that kind of crowd backlash over a simple tip?

Switched to duct tape last year after my moleskin kept peeling off in the rain on a long hike. Honestly it stuck way better and stayed on for three days straight without budging. You just gotta put a thin piece of gauze or toilet paper over the blister first so the adhesive doesn't touch the raw skin directly. Worked great for me and saved my hike, never had that kind of luck with moleskin even when I prestretched it. The backlash is kinda wild honestly, people act like duct tape is gonna dissolve your foot or something. It's just a tool, use what works for you.

Duct tape does work better than moleskin for some people, actually.

Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. You're telling me people actually use duct tape on blisters? Like, the silver stuff from the hardware store? I have to admit, I've always heard the old wives' tale about it working for warts, but for raw, open blisters? That just sounds painful and kind of scary. I mean, the sticky residue alone would be a nightmare to clean off, and I can't imagine the adhesive is made for skin at all. Your mileage may vary, but that sounds like a recipe for a bigger mess, not a solution.
