Back then internet forums had a nicer vibe. My local group chat exploded into a huge fight about parking spaces last month. People just want to argue over nothing now.

Was it really better or just different? People have always loved to argue over small things. The internet just puts all those dumb fights on display.

Honestly, a parking space argument seems pretty minor in the grand scheme. Those kinds of fights happened in person too, just without a digital record. Now every little spat gets saved and shared, so it looks like a bigger deal. I doubt people are any more likely to argue now than they were twenty years ago. We just have more ways to see it.
