Found an old comment from 2008 that predicted Netflix would kill Blockbuster

I was digging through a dead forum from 2008 and stumbled on a comment where someone said Blockbuster would be gone in 5 years because of streaming. At the time everyone laughed at them, but they were totally right. Anyone else find old predictions that actually came true?

Did you also find anyone predicting they'd still be paying for two streaming services and still not finding anything to watch? That's me now, the guy who laughed at Blockbuster's demise while currently sitting on a couch scrolling through Netflix for 45 minutes. Might as well have kept the late fees, at least that was a clear punishment instead of this existential dread.

@dixon.spencer that hit way too close to home honestly. Found one guy who said Netflix would eventually just be cable with extra steps and here we are paying for four services to watch the same three shows. The Blockbuster prediction was impressive but the real prophecy was people still complaining about nothing to watch in 2024. Late fees actually made you commit to a movie instead of this endless scroll of doom. Maybe that 2008 guy was Nostradamus or just really bored on a forum.
