Warning: I used to think liking old comics made me a real fan, but after getting roasted at a con for not knowing any modern indie titles I switched to reading 5 new series a month.
Back in 2019 I only read silver age reprints but now I follow Image and Boom books after a guy at my local shop in Portland told me I was missing half the craft, has anyone else had to rebuild their whole pull list to stay relevant?

Funny how that works right? It's like that one bouncer who looks mean but actually saves you from a bad night. @evaallen you're totally right, that kind of thing happens more than people admit. I've noticed a pattern where the people who seem like they're blocking you end up doing you a solid in the long run. It could be a boss who didn't hire you or a friend who said no to a bad idea. We just don't see it until later when we look back.

Three years ago my buddy got passed over for a promotion at a small tech company here in Austin. The guy who got it ended up burning the place down basically, bad management, whole division got cut six months later. My buddy ended up at a different company doing the same job for more money and way less stress. It's like a weird version of the universe's spam filter. The stuff that doesn't get through might just be saving you from a bigger headache down the road, even if it stings in the moment.
