Unpopular opinion: Spending $50 on a graded comic is a waste

I dropped $50 on a CGC 9.8 copy of New Mutants #98 thinking it'd be a solid investment. Two years later, it's worth maybe $40 and just sits in a box. Anyone else think grading fees are just burning cash?

What exactly were you expecting from a 90s book with high print run?

The high print run point is spot on, it's like people forgot basic supply and demand. I see this same pattern everywhere like people buying Beanie Babies or even those limited edition cups from fast food places. So many folks just chase the hype without checking if something is actually rare or just wrapped in plastic with a fancy label.

Honestly man, how do people not research this stuff before buying? @lucashart probably wasn't expecting much from a 90s book but even then you gotta check how many were actually printed. I learned that lesson the hard way with some old comics, now I always lookup the print run before I pull the trigger.
