TIL the hard way: do NOT bring up Frank Miller's Holy Terror at a comic convention panel

Was at Rose City Comic Con last September and during a Q&A I asked about the book's politics. Guy running the panel actually walked off stage for 2 minutes. Audience just stared at me like I'd kicked a puppy. Has anyone else accidentally hit a comic fan third rail like that?

Yeah, that book is basically a comic book version of a hate crime.

Wait, did I seriously buy that same book from a gas station for three bucks when I was sixteen? I remember thinking the art looked cool, but then I got to the panel where the hero talks about "purifying the bloodline" and realized I'd accidentally grabbed a white supremacist fever dream instead of an actual story. Worst part is I lent it to a friend who thought it was satire and we had this really awkward argument about whether the artist just sucked at drawing people or was really committed to the message. My bad for not checking the author's name first, I guess.
