Pro tip: the spinner rack at my local shop in Toledo is where I learned how weird comic fans really are
Stopped by Dragon's Lair Comics on Secor Road last Saturday and watched a guy spend 20 minutes digging through the dollar bin while three kids waited for him to move so they could grab the new Sonic book. Then he pulls out a beat up issue of Savage Dragon #1 and goes "found it" like he just won the lottery, while some other guy nearby kept saying dollar bins are trash and real collectors only buy slabs. So which is it, are bargain hunters the heart of this hobby or are we just hoarding paper that will never be worth a thing? Curious what everyone thinks.

Dollar bins are the heart. Period. That Savage Dragon #1 find is exactly why people dig. Slabs sit in cases and nobody touches them. Kids grabbing Sonic books off the rack? That's the future right there. Comic shops survive on cheap books moving, not fat guys bragging about CGC grades.
