My long box stacking method failed big time last Saturday

My long box stacking method failed big time last Saturday. I had my long boxes stacked six high in the closet, you know, the way everyone does it. Last Saturday I grabbed one from the middle and the whole tower tipped sideways, snapped the corner of about 15 issues. Was mostly dollar bin stuff but a few early 90s X-Force keys got dinged, that hurt. Now I'm using those plastic shelf brackets rated for 80 pounds each, spaced every two feet. Anyone else lose books to the old stacking trick or do people actually brace these things?
