My local shop swapped to paper bags for comics
I got my new issues yesterday and saw they now use brown paper bags. The manager told me it cuts down on plastic trash from the store. It got me thinking about all the plastic in action figure packaging too. Do other fans try to buy stuff with less waste?

Brown paper bags for comics? SERIOUSLY? That's SHOCKING because those things offer zero protection from bends or moisture. All that action figure plastic is definitely a HUGE problem though. I try to buy loose figures secondhand to avoid the trash.

Ugh this is EVERYWHERE now! So many products have this crazy mismatch where the packaging is way more sturdy than the thing it's actually protecting. It's like companies care more about the box than what's inside.

Think about the energy to make paper bags compared to plastic... it's not just about trash. Paper production uses lots of water and chemicals, and if it's not recycled, it still ends up in landfills. Also, comics in flimsy bags might get damaged, leading to returns and more waste from re-shipping. We have to look at the whole system, not just swap one problem for another.
