My LCS pulled the wrong variant for my pull list and it threw off my whole week

So I go in last Tuesday to pick up my stuff and they grabbed a different cover for the new Batman. I had #158 on my list and they gave me the A cover instead of the B cover I asked for months ago. $4.99 vs $7.99 but it's not even about the money. I was really looking forward to that Jim Lee variant. The guy at the counter said they "ran out" even though I preordered it back in January. Has anyone else had a shop mess up their pull like this and what did you do about it?

I mean, $4.99 vs $7.99 for the same comic book sounds like a win to me. You saved three bucks and you still get to read Batman. Maybe the dude just did you a favor.

Is it really that deep though? Saving three bucks on a comic book feels like a win on paper, but not if the condition is messed up. A crumpled cover or torn page isn't a favor, it's a hassle. You're basically paying for something you can't fully enjoy, and that's just disappointing. Sometimes the cheap price just isn't worth the headache.
