My "collector" habit was just hoarding, a garage sale guy set me straight
I had like 40 longboxes of random back issues, stuff I hadn't looked at in 5 years. This guy in Pasadena wanted to buy a stack of 90s X-Men books and asked if I actually read them or just let them sit. He pointed at my duplicates and said, "you own three copies of Gambit #1 and can't name a single panel from it." That hit me hard. I sold off half my boxes for $300 and kept only the runs I actually revisit. Has anyone else realized their 'collection' turned into just storage bins of cardboard and plastic?

Buddy had two longboxes of Spawn, sold them for beer money, never looked back.

Three copies of Gambit #1 and not one panel? That garage sale guy hit you with a truth bomb harder than a dropped longbox. I had a similar wakeup call when I found two copies of Batman: Knightfall Vol 2 and couldn't tell you a single page from either one. It's wild how we turn reading into just stacking stuff, like the plastic and cardboard matter more than the stories. I got rid of a ton of my duplicates and suddenly started actually enjoying the books I kept. Good on you for selling them off, that $300 probably felt better than three dusty Gambits ever did.
