Finally broke down and bought a CGC graded comic at a convention
I spent $75 on a 9.8 copy of Amazing Spider-Man 300 at the local comic con last Saturday. It killed my budget for the month but I've been wanting a nice copy for years and every time I see prices go up I regret not jumping in sooner. Has anyone else had better luck buying graded books in person versus online auctions?

Just a heads up, Amazing Spider-Man 300 first appeared in 1988. That issue doesn't actually have a 9.8 graded copy because it came out before CGC started grading and the census only lists 9.6 as the highest for that book. You might want to double check the label because a 9.8 on a pre-1990 book like that would be extremely unusual, especially for a newsstand copy from that era which are hard to find in perfect shape. I sold a 9.6 at my local shop last year for around $60, so $75 for a 9.8 sounds a bit off to me.

Tbh I'd trust my grading skills about as much as my first attempt at replacing a hard drive.
