Dropped $180 on graded variants last year, my longbox regrets it

I got sucked into buying CGC graded variant covers in 2024, mostly those Virgin Art exclusives. Looked awesome in the display case for about 3 months. Then I realized I don't even open them to reread, they just sit there. Sold two of them at a local con this weekend for $40 total. My regular floppies from the dollar bin are way more fun. Has anyone else fallen for the graded hype and regretted it later?

Traded my slabbed Batman 423 for a longbox of random 90s Image books and a stack of trades, best deal I ever made. Reading those beat-up Spawn issues with coffee stains on them beats staring at a plastic case any day. Graded stuff is for investors, dollar bins are for readers, and I know which one I actually am.
