Don't get me started on people who call every comic store a 'comic book shop'

I was at my local shop, Comic King in Austin, last Saturday and overheard a guy telling his friend he was going to 'the comic book shop' for some back issues. It's just 'comic shop' or 'comic store,' dude! A real fan knows the difference and it bugs me when people add the extra word. Is it just me or does that sound like someone who's only seen the movies?

Haha oh man, you're totally right. It's like when people say "ATM machine" or "PIN number" it just SOUNDS off. I notice this same thing with music fans too. People who call every band "indie" when they just heard them on a TV show. It's like they're trying too hard to sound like they're in the know.

It's funny how many things people just kind of repeat without thinking, like the whole "artisanal" thing for overpriced bread that's just fancy sourdough.
