Dollar bin digging at a garage sale landed me a full 1970s run

Last month I paid $8 for a whole box of comics at a garage sale in Des Moines, and it turned out to be a complete run of The Amazing Spider-Man from 1974 to 1977, issues 136 through 189. The guy said his dad stored them in a shed for decades, so most have water stains and bent corners, but they're readable. I spent the next week cross-referencing values on eBay and maybe 12 issues have resale value over $40 each, but honestly I just wanted the reading experience. Has anyone else scored a full run like that from a random box, or do you all stick to graded slabs?

Heard on a podcast that water stains can actually lower grades, but reading beats flipping any day.
