Caught myself bagging comics wrong for 8 years at a shop in Austin

I always slid the comic into the bag with the opening at the top, but a guy at the register showed me how the flap goes down to keep dust out. Anyone else learn they had a basic habit backwards after way too long?

8 years is a tough one, man. At the shop in North Austin I used to hit up, the owner swore by the flap down method to keep the lint off the top edge. I guess I never really thought about dust being an issue until I saw a stack of my old bags with that grimy line right at the opening. Live and learn I suppose, your mileage may vary on how much it actually matters.

Flipped the bag inside out and gave it a good shake before sealing every time. Never had that grimy line issue after I started doing that.

Hmm, I gotta push back on that flap down method. I tried it for about a year back in 2019 and it actually made things worse for me. The flap would kinda trap moisture right there where it folded, so instead of just lint I got this weird musty smell on the top edge of every bag. Maybe it works in a super dry climate like North Austin, but here in humid Houston it backfired hard. You ever notice that some of these tricks just depend way too much on your local weather to be a one size fits all solution?
