A collector at the shop told me to bag my silver age books differently, and he was right

I've been bagging my comics with the flap on the top for years. This older guy at my local shop in Portland said I was doing it all wrong, that dust settles in through the top opening. He showed me his collection and every single book had the seal at the bottom. I switched over my 40 key silver age issues last month and already notice less dust buildup near the staples. Has anyone else found a better way to store their older books that I might be missing?

Mylar bags with the flap on the bottom is definitely the way to go. What most people overlook is the humidity factor in Portland. I put those little silica gel packs inside the bag with my early X-Men issues and it made a huge difference in keeping the paper flat and not wavy. The combo of bottom sealing plus moisture control has kept my books looking crisp even after our wet winters.

Wait @henderson.vera, are you putting the silica gel INSIDE the bag with the comic? Doesn't that dry the paper out too much?

Sounds like overkill for a comic @blake691.
